The month serves as a time to celebrate diversity 和 reflect on the progress made in securing rights 和 acceptance for LGBTQ+ individuals. 

At the 火狐体育下注, celebrating 骄傲月 underscores a commitment to fostering an inclusive 和 supportive campus environment. By recognizing the contributions 和 struggles of the LGBTQ+ community, the university aims to educate 和 inspire students, faculty 和 staff to embrace diversity 和 advocate for equality.

“Celebrating 骄傲月 on campus gives a place for our students to feel seen 和 safe. It also gives us an opportunity to work with staff, faculty 和 administration on how we can better serve our LGBTQ+ student population by being better allies,格伦·米恩斯说, director of the Office of LGBTQ* 资源. “By bringing 在一起 allies 和 our community, we are stronger in advocating for inclusivity, equity 和 the continued conversation to create a world where we all feel safe to live our true authentic selves.”

While the university more widely celebrates 四月的骄傲 to give students the opportunity to participate during the academic school year, throughout the month of June, the Office of LGBTQ* 资源，位于 Office for Student Success, will host 和 take part in various community events.

• Office of LGBTQ* 资源 Open House — 3-6 p.m. 6月26日星期三. Drop in for snacks 和 to see the space. 
• Lexington Pride Festival ——6月29日，星期六. The all-day event will take place at Central Bank Center in downtown Lexington.
• 巴迪徽章 — Sign up for 巴迪徽章 to help identify a safe person 和 promote visibility,
• Campus-Wide Safe Zone Workshop — These 90-minute workshops equip individuals to be more aware 和 active allies.

Through these educational programs, support services 和 advocacy, the university strives to empower the LGBTQ+ community 和 ensure that everyone at the university can live authentically 和 with pride.

“The UK Office of LGBTQ* 资源 operates year-round to provide programming centered around our three core pillars: education, advocacy 和 community building,米恩斯说. “These are the foundations of our office 和 how we make sure we are doing everything we can to impact our students. The office is also open during the summer from 9 a.m. 到5点.m., serving as a drop-in for our students as well as anyone who needs resources. We also attend local Prides within Lexington 和 surrounding areas to make sure our presence is known. We want incoming students or employees of the university to know we exist, so if they ever need us, they can count on us to help them regarding the LGBTQ+ student experience.”
